Street Sweeping Service Cancelled for Tuesday, December 16, 2025

Due to the forecasted cold temperatures, Street Sweeping Service is cancelled for Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

A Code Blue Extreme Cold Alert is in effect from Sunday night, December 14th through Monday morning, December 15, 2025.

A Code Blue Extreme Cold Declaration triggers several responses aimed at providing shelter and services for individuals experiencing homelessness:
  • City-funded shelters will shelter-in-place to ensure any individual experiencing homelessness and wanting shelter will be accommodated.  Private homeless shelters will be encouraged to extend their hours and keep individuals indoors.

  • Homeless Services Outreach Workers provide cold-weather education, encourage individuals experiencing homelessness to take shelter, and connect them to services as needed.

  • On nights when Code Blue Extreme Cold has been declared, the Salvation Army’s FEEDMORE canteen provides hot drinks and other items to individuals experiencing homelessness.

A list of City Homeless Shelters and Services is available through the Mayor's Office of Homeless Services (MOHS), including information about the MOHS FY26 Winter Shelter & Code Purple Plan

Additional information about Code Blue can be found here:  Code Blue Extreme Cold 2025-2026 | Baltimore City Health Department.

WINTER SHELTER STATUS: ACTIVE

The Mayor's Office of Homeless Services has declared a Code Purple Winter Shelter Activation until Monday, December 15, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.

The Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services (MOHS) developed the FY 2026 Winter Shelter & Code Purple Plan to coordinate efforts between the City of Baltimore and providers within the Continuum of Care (CoC) to provide hypothermia shelters and vital, life-saving services for Baltimore residents experiencing homelessness during the winter season. MOHS will provide extended emergency shelter to people experiencing homelessness on nights when the temperature with wind chill reaches 32˚F or below. Additional shelter and resource information can be found here:  Winter Shelter | Mayor's Office of Homeless Services.
